Beer Bread

This bread is so quick and easy, you'll make it time and again. It tastes wonderful and the texture is divine!  What more could you ask for?

Makes 12 servings
1¼  cups all-purpose flour
1     cup whole wheat flour
2     tablespoons sugar
2¼  teaspoons baking powder
½    teaspoon salt
1     12-ounce can light beer, at room temperature

Gather ingredients and preheat oven to 375°.

Spray a 4 x 8-inch loaf pan with nonstick cooking spray.

In a large bowl, combine both types of flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

Mix well.

Add beer.

Stir until foam subsides and all ingredients are moistened.

Pour batter into prepared pan.

Bake 45 to 50 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.

Cool in pan on a wire rack for 5 minutes,
then turn out onto rack to finish cooling.
(For a delicious variation that tastes like rye bread, add teaspoon garlic powder and 1 teaspoon caraway seeds to the dry ingredients.)

Enjoy!
