Grilled Ham Steak

The smoky ham flavor is a perfect match for the sweet preserves in this easy meal. Use any flavor preserves you like, and whether made in the broiler or on the outside grill, it's sure to be a hit.

Makes 6 servings

½     cup canned crushed pineapple (packed in juice), drained
¼     cup fruit-only spread (choose any flavor; my favorites are peach, apricot, or raspberry)
1      tablespoon lemon juice
2      teaspoons dry mustard
1      teaspoon grated fresh orange peel
½     teaspoon cornstarch
1     1-pound slice boneless ham, cut 1½ inches thick, trimmed of all visible fat

 Gather ingredients.

In a small saucepan, combine all ingredients except ham.

Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Continue to cook, stirring, 2 minutes. Remove from heat.

Broil ham to desired doneness on both sides.

Spread preserve mixture over top. Return to broiler until hot and bubbly
