Cool Treats for Hot Summer Days

Ah, Treats! Who doesn’t love treats? With it getting hotter and hotter these treats will sure cool you off on those hot dog days of summer. I’ve reduced the amount of cholesterol and only use nonfat or low-fat milk, so you can indulge.

Orange Dreamsicle Freeze – Reminiscent of the frozen confection I enjoyed as a kid, this frozen dessert will be loved by all. Not only will they adore it, but they'll be eating a nutritious dessert as well. And you don't need an ice cream machine or any fancy equipment to make it.

Grape Gelatin – As simple to prepare as the commercial product, but with real fruit juice and a lot less sugar. Plus, this tasty treat is fun for the kids to make. It's great all year round and is a refreshing, fat-free dessert or snack.

Strawberry Ice-Cream – There's just a trace of fat in a frosty, cold dish of this easy, ice cream-type dessert. Just throw a few ingredients in the blender and enjoy.

Tropical Ambrosia Salad – I've replaced the usual sour cream with nonfat yogurt and taken out most of the high-fat coconut. Yet, this cool, delicious salad retains the wonderful, refreshing flavors of the Caribbean.
